Sometimes when someone posts a reference to additional information here, and I want to click on it, the following message comes in from Windows Internet Explorer: "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed." But it does not tell me what I need to do to fix the problem. Does anyone knows what I need to do next? Thank you,

first, what do you use for email--is it web based or is it a client--like outlook/outlook express or thunderbird?

For e-mail I go to Yahoo from my computer, and I have no problems with that. It is when someone posts a reference to something else, and I need to click on that reference that I will get the warning from Windows.

It sounds to me like you are clicking on a maito: link (meaning to send an email to someone) rather than a website URL.

If you do not have Outlook or OUtlook Express or some other mail program installed on your computer, then when the computer tries to open the mailto: link it cannot and you get the error message.

To avoid this problem, just right-click the link and copy to the clipboard. Then go to Yahoo and paste it into the TO:

I hope that helps.
