Can anybody recommend a webcasting program? I am looking into it as a delivery system for professional development, probably in the form of a narrated slideshow.

I know some folks who have been happy using Camtasia Studio, TechSmith's Screen Recording Software to develop training materials.

I'm assuming you're looking for streaming software server side? I haven't tried it on a server yet but take a look at VLC: VLC media player - Overview

Having said that the only really major difference between a streaming server and simply serving a standard file embedded in a web page is you can FF the streaming version and serve other content dynamically.
