I have a HP Pavillion DV5000 that runs windows XP. It began acting up, so I restarted it and now it will not load windows at all. It bluescreens real quickly and then begins to attempt again. I ran a PhoenixBios and it stated PASS. So, is my hardrive screwed? Thanks

Will it boot into safe mode? This indicates that a driver or something configured to load is the problem.

If not, then you might try repairing your installation through the recovery console if you have your XP CD.

Start pressing F8 at the und of the HP POST screen, you should get a boot menu. Select the disable autorestart option, this will make it stop at the BSOD, post back with the BSOD info, can't suggest anything without it.

This happened to me a month ago. My PC was attacked by a virus that wiped out Windows. I had to have my PC wiped clean after I backed up my files/docs onto an external HD then rebuild the computer from scratch. Thank God I have a good friend in KY who did it for me when I was down there over Derby week-end.
