I'm trying to create a catalog in excel, it's frustrating as usually don't use it.
I hope I can explain this as best as possible.
So I have 4 columns, first one I instert the image, next the details, last 2
cost etc. My problem is with my second column. When I hit the enter key
just to go to the next line it takes me to the next cell.
Example (I'm trying to do this)
1 blah blah blah (I hit enter)
2 blah blah blah (I hit enter)
3 blah blah blah (I hit enter)
I have the column set for text, is that not right?
When in a cell or input box or anything else that expects to move to the next field with enter holding down control and hitting enter will usually keep you in the cell and insert a line break.
I don't think you can use the enter key to move to the next line. I use the arrow buttons. To go to the next line I use the down arrow and then the home key (or the reverse of those two - doesn't matter.)
I don't know if you can create a macro to record using the enter key to move line to line - I've never created one myself - but if you go to Help in Excel and type in Macros in the search, the instructions about how to do it can be found.
Try the shift key instead of the Ctrl key, maybe. I know in some cases that's what I have to do to get a single space CR so it might work.
On second thought why are you using Excel? Using tables in Word would be a lot easier!
Moving text to the top of a cell involves formatting the cell and setting the text to be at the top instead of the center. You can highlight a row, column or any combination and format them by right clicking the highlighted cells.
