Ok so I'm not a big video gamer, but I still have my original XBOX that I like to play from time to time. I'd like to connect it to my computer so I can play it via my LCD monitor in one of my room's.

Is there any way to do this without buying a transcoder type device?

I mean I know that kind of device is required in order for me to connect it straight to the monitor, but isn't there a way I can connect it to the PC and the monitor would pick it up that way?

My PC has a TV Tuner card, but only two inputs for audio. On the front of my PC (as pictured) I have the full three inputs. However, when I connect my XBOX to these and power it up nothing happens.

Any suggestions on the best way for me to do this?

To do it the way you are trying would require some software. You would need for TV Turner Card software running to pick up the XBox inputs and move them to the monitor.

But you will get some delay from that, because the computer will have to get the signal, transcode it, and send it to the monitor. That takes time because it's basically processing all the video twice (once in the Xbox, and again in your computer). You'd be better off just connecting the XBox to the monitor directly.

But if you want to try it, plug it into those inputs, start up your TV Tuner software. It should detect there is something plugged in there (depends on the software) and give you options for displaying it on the monitor.

Do you have the hi def box for your Xbox? If so you could get a COMPOSITE > VGA cable and connect directly to the monitor.

You are absolutely right and I didn't even think of the delay issue. Looks like I would be best to connect it directly to the monitor. I appreciate your help!
