JViello: I actually think fireworks are a perfect example of a situation where enforcement should mostly be at the cop's discretion. The law is a fairly blunt instrument and when we try to codify every exception, nuance, and counter-nuance, we usually end up with something that's unintentionally draconian, or at least an incredible pain in the neck. If we let police officers do their job and give them leeway to exercise their judgment, then -- if they're GOOD cops -- they'll be able to sort out which complaints are reasonable, and which are not.

BTW I definitely agree that making fireworks illegal has had a "forbidden fruit" effect, and just makes them more attractive to many people. OTOH I have a friend who blew half his hand off with a M-80 or something similar. (I suspect he'd be the first to take the blame for that one, but he's a very smart, self-aware guy.) There has to be a line somewhere; I'm just not sure where it should be drawn.

And yes, those horrible things are illegal here.

LOL You are now saying that caps for a cap gun are going to explode your hand off? LOL

I bet, there is a chance, if you get in your car, and go down the street someone MIGHT hit you, and you could die! We better outlaw driving and all take the bus.

Well, your dad would go to jail today for those...they are illegal too.

Oh the drama... Sure it did.

You ever hear of a garden hose? It'll douse any class C firework in about 2 seconds. Same for burning bushes...unless Moses is involved.
OMG!!!! Those dirty lil rotten felons in that vid!!! Just like a few have said here, they DEFINITELY deserve to lose an eye, a hand, and rot in hell after for their narcissim!!!!!! I too am one of the few on earth that should hold judgement on all others...

Anyway....... yes I too, would be extremely upset about any loud ruckus at past midnight. I wouldn't be happy at all. BUt I wouldn't wish ill wil on anyone for letting loose during holidays. Hopefully they'll be safe with it and keep it away from my property, if they don't then things would need to be taken to the next step.

If anyone REALLY has problems with neighbors enough, there's plenty of Connecticut far enough from any neighbors that no fireworks would ever reach you. If you choose to live next to others, you're gonna have the good and bad of it some day...... just saying...veryone be safe these holidays.. ESPECIALL with the more pedestrian aspects.. ie. on the road, drinking, using knives while prepping all the good grub, playing around on the lil nephews toys/bikes.. etc... Alot more people get hurt over holidays with those than anything else....

~~~NEED INFO/FAVOR~~~
I actually need an area to drive around in for my dog. Last few years we been driving on the highway back and forth... I even tried going into NY since they are totally illegal there and that was a mistake being by the water....
Does anyone know of a place where we wont hear fireworks screaching or booming? Even if its very distant thats fine...And a place to get out and walk around for a little.
Looking to do this Friday Saturday Sunday 8-10pm. Thanks.
I don't think anyone on here advocates setting off fireworks at 2am or even 11pm. many of your neighbors sound like rude and inconsiderate people and many of you sound like elitist with some misplaced idea that because you don't like to watch fireworks you have a superior intellect. Both of which are horrible traits to have. Just relax people! If someone is lighting off fireworks at an inappropriate time, ask them to quit or call the police.
Everyone remembers when they were a kid and there was that old man or lady that always yelled at you for being to loud when you were playing or getting your ball that went int their yard. Have you become that person. you should be reasonable just as you want your neighbors to be.
Just enjoy the holiday for what it is. It is the birth of our nation, a joyous occasion that should be celebrated. IMO it's a little poetic that fireworks are illegal. so was the deceleration of independence
I'm looking forward to seeing the town-sponsored fireworks. I will probably not be able to see them, however, because the neighbor thinks his are cooler and shoots his off at the same time, and they block the view of the town's. So anyone who lives on my side of his house, within around a mile, who wants to see those fireworks, have to drive to the town green, hope to find a parking space, and put up with the crowds, and will not have the privilege of seeing them from the privacy of their own back yards, like everyone who lives in front of this guy's house.
His - are definitely not cooler. They're just louder, and more obnoxious, and last longer, and are accompanied by all that lovely torn paper confetti that gets blown up with the explosions and ends up in everyone else's back yard, and all over the street, that the city workers don't get paid to clean up when they're done.
Oh and he's not even the next-door neighbor. THAT guy will be shooting his off on the 4th, but he lives on the other side of our house. HIS neighbors will have to go to the Green if they want to see the town sponsored fireworks, but that's their battle. I already got a very polite and understanding compromise from them, in that they'd wait til the 4th to shoot them off instead of doing it the entire month of June and July, as in the past.
The neighbor who does this, is a few doors away.
Well, this probally doesn't help much since you're most likely not that close, but I can't be sure since you didn't say what area, AND your area is not in any of your info....but... It's quiet up here in Litchfiled county even mostly on the 4th weekend.. Of course I live right next to a lake so here there wil be a good amount of "illegal" fireworks.
But there's many quiet places around. Sounds like you're going mostly east/west. Wherever you're at, maybe try going north...??.I can understand as I have a very sweet natured lab/pit bull mix that does not like the sound of fireworks very close to her either. She also doesn't like how the deer, turkeys, bear, rabbits, and bobcat seem to like to congregate 20 feet outside "her" front door and "taunt" her either, but thats another story.. lol...
