Anyone recommend any cool lighthouses to visit that have nice views and are close(or within 25-50 miles) to Orange/Derby? I know I can Google, but I like to ask here and get good opinions.

Did you want to actually go in the lighthouse or just cruise by on a boat?

If you want to go in, thee are only two in CT that I know of that are open to the public. They are Shefffield Island Lighthouse in Norwalk and Stonington Harbor Lighthouse on Water St. in Stonington. The latter is now a museum.

If you want to take a nice boat cruise , there are a series of ligthhouses in the New London- Groton area that can be seen together on an organized lighthouse cruise. But you can't go in. There are other lighthouses closer to New Haven that have to be seen one by one by boat or partly from land. Those also are not open to the public.

Yes, Google for more info on hours to get inside the two that are open, etc.

To visit and walk around view the water......kind of like lighthouses in Cape Cod in case anyone ever went to any there.

OK, there are just three to add that you can't get into. But you can get to them via land and walk around outside them.

Fayerweather Island Light, Black Rock Harbor , Bridgeport

Five Mile Point Light, which is in Lighthouse Point Park, New Haven

Avery Point Lighthouse, Groton
