For sale: Holy Land - WFSB Channel 3 - Hartford News, Weather and Sports

I must say if I had the money I would buy this in a heartbeat and restore it. It would be a great project!!
I just pray that a developer doesn't buy this and tear it down to build houses or something...what a shame that would be!!!

Oh wow...growing up with it and watching the decline I wholeheartedly agree. The developer scenario is a tough one because while it has some GREAT views, you have to go through some not to nice neighborhoods to get there.

I really, REALLY hope this lets someone actual redevelop and restore this thing.

Great thanks!

Here is an interesting video:

Holy Land USA Bring it back to life - YouTube

It honestly reminds me of our nation as a whole and progression we have gone down. Waterbury itself used to be a clean, prosperous, safe working class place. It pains me to see the place I was born slide so far.

I really don't see how they can do anything with it as far as residence and businesses ventures go. Granted I've only gone up there by the front entrance gate, but it's a steep crazy hill. Not sure about other entrances points though - if there are any.

It is steep, but in this day and age, that's nothing to work with. Remember BJ's is sitting where there was a 200 foot high cliff. Then again, you might not be old enough to remember the quarry next to Stop and Shop and the old Bradlees as they took that mountain down slowly and put an industrial part on top in back.

Holy land is basically one of the best views in the city, if some developer was to quarry the top off, they can get some prime $ for it - even in Wtby for that view. High end condo's etc.

I remember Bradlees but not taking down the mountain. And I can't remember driving past the mountain on the way to the drive in on Lakewood either.

Off topic, but for old time's sake, you'll get a kick out of this: During that horrible storm a few weeks ago, I learned the hard way that South Main St. can flash flood in mere seconds. After going down Liberty St. and heading over to the Rte. 8 entrance by St. Patrick's, I learned that can be a dead end too because the entrance ramp was blocked off for reasons I couldn't see. After turning around, I got to see how deep the intersection of Bank and Meadow St. really is. I parked the car on the grass by the Home Depot and waited out the storm. Not fun!!

There was an article about a year ago about a good number of residents in that area who own their homes and very much want to improve the neighborhood. Unfortunately, they have all those decrepit buildings they have no control over.
