Is it only legal for medical use?

I was under the impression that it was decriminalized. But, I still see people getting arrested for a "possession under 1oz" which is the smallest amount.

What's the deal?

Only medical marijuana is legal with the appropriate marijuana card.

Possession of less than half an ounce is decriminalized. Possession of less than half an ounce is now punishable with fines only, sort of like a traffic ticket.

Obviously there is still a penalty for any possession of marijuana without a medical card.

The media loves the word "decriminalized". It's not legal and is still criminal to possess. In small amounts, the state has reduced the charges to an infraction instead of a misdemeanor. It's currently legal for medicinal use, however.

I would guess within 5 years, we'll see it become as legal as alcohol.

Yep. And probably 5 years after that, tobacco users will be charged with a crime.

What I find interesting are people who are "proud to smoke weed". It's interesting, in a social/psychological kind of way.

A front runner on the show ink master got kicked off because they found him smoking pot, which is a breech of contract with the producers. In an interview he was saying "I don't regret it" and talking about furthering the cause etc etc.

I don't understand this at all. Why would you be proud to smoke pot? Even weirder is that his remarks are semi respected. If someone was booted from a competition they were passionate about with every fiber of their being for drinking alcohol, would they be "proud they are an alcoholic"? "no regret it at all"?
