Hello,

I will be taking a job at the Bronx Zoo. My hours are 8:30-4pm From Westport, CT how long should I expect the drive to be to and fro. Is it reasonable or doable? When should I leave in the morning? Thanks

You could leave really early (6AM) and be fine, but the drive home will be horrendous.

Can you take the train to Fordham and go from there? It would be long and you might have to transfer, but it would be quicker than driving!

If I leave Westport @7-7:30am and the Bronx @ 3:00pm, how long each way am I looking at?

3PM doesn't really guarantee you a swift ride home unfortunately. Some days it will be 45 minutes and some days it will be 2 hours.

Leaving at 7AM is also kind of risky. 730, forget about it.

Just curious, why not Beardsley zoo?

long ride is long. The zoo better be paying you extremely well. Not sure how qualified you are to work at an aquarium, but Norwalk(aquarium), Bridgeport(zoo) are far closer. Honestly, if you could consider moving I would unless you are getting paid enough and do not mind the nightmare of a commute or of course there are circumstances that you cannot avoid.

It will almost never be 45 minutes.

OP: Plan on 90 minutes in the afternoon.

Mystic Aquarium would even be a less stressful drive on some days.

Because my job is in the Bronx. Do all these morning commuters drive into Manhattan? Is that why there is so much traffic? Also, what is the commute like on the Merritt in the morning.

Thanks
