Would anyone know why a car with cameras mounted on it would be circling a business parking lot? Could it be the Google Streetsview car perhaps? Some coworkers are freaking out about it. My thing is if someone was trying to get personal information, why would they drive around with cameras mounted to their car? Wouldn't they want to be a little more inconspicuous?

Some photos of the Google Maps cars. There's no reason why it would circle repeatedly though.

More likely the local police with License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras. They look for stolen cars, expired plates, parking ticket scofflaws, etc. As seen on the cable tv show "Parking Wars". A "hit" generates immediate feedback.

Could be a news crew doing a story. Who knows. Why are people freaking out? Are you freak out when you go to places that has cameras mounted everywhere like Target that is watching every move you make?

It's the goverment invading your privacy in a public parking lot. QUICK! Get your tin foil hats!

Though it probably was either a lost Google car, but more likely a municipal vehicle looking for cars with past due taxes, stolen cars, or unregistered cars.

Or looking for tax scofflaws? Those that move here and never register their car here.

I saw a Google car last week and it was clearly marked to the point of being obnoxious.
