How do I go about tipping the guys from Colonial Sanitation? For the mailman it's easy to put something in the mailbox, but aside from running out and trying to catch them when they show up, how do I leave something for the sanitation guys? I could tape an envelope to the garbage can and hope nobody takes it, but wasn't really sure what else to do.

We just moved here recently and have had a LOT of garbage and recycled boxes, etc... so I definitely want to give them something.

Thanks.

Call the company and find out who does your route, and tell them you'd like to leave a little gift. I wouldn't just tape something to the garbage can, especially if they come in predawn hours when it's dark - they may not see it.

We used to tip $50 with our old sanitation company, but not since we switched to a new one. They have the truck with the lift that empties the garbage. The driver never gets out of the truck, and if we have any garbage bags outside the can we get an extra $3 fee that week. That extra little fee has made us less charitable.
