Interesting results. Sure helps back up my real estate decisions.

Categories include Best for Families/Schools, "Young and Hip", Bang for the Buck, Affluence, Crime, etc.

They are split into large, medium, small towns. The only curious part is Wolcott being under "large" towns?

Data Sources: Connecticut Mastery Test Data (2012), Connecticut Economic Research Center town profiles (Connecticut Economic Resource Center (CERC) – Economic Research, Marketing Services & Business Development in CT), Connecticut State Department of Education, Connecticut Secretary of the State, Nielsen Pop-Facts 2013.

They also take into account things like dining, shopping, and culture amenities.

Any methodology that puts Waterbury ahead of nearly any of those other towns is deeply flawed.

They seem to indicate that Seymour is pretty much a hellhole. There's nothing "exciting" about the town, but it sure isn't awful, which is how they appear to be branding it.

Hell, who wouldn't want to move to Meriden(yes Pam, we know you like it there) instead of Seymour?

The lowest crime list for the large cities does not make sense, as how does West Haven have lower crime than say Wolcott? Otherwise I agree with those lists for the most part and can understand the rankings.

This list is pure lunacy.

Waterbury at #11?

Chester below Naugatuck?

Wolcott in the top 5?

My heart, it stopped beating.

Edit: I see - the Overall comparison doesn't really have much meaning. The Large and Medium lists aren't too bad. Small has a few head-scratchers though. How about not second-guessing the market and just looking at what people are willing to pay to live in the towns?

Edit #2: Would love to see the actual methodology breakdown that put Waterbury near the top of the Young and Hip list.

Curious on that too. Waterbury does have a lot of young renters. Far from hip though.

Have to agree with Kid. This list is laughable. I'm looking forward to Anon860 piping in that New Haven ought to be number 1 as opposed to runner up.
