Car needs a new catylytic converter; cost to do the job right is about $1,000;
car isn't worth more than $3,000 so don't want to put that money into it.
DMV took my registration renewal check but never sent me back new registration.
Seems like I am in some sort of limbo? Help! Haven't been pulled over; do not have current registration
so cannot get beach pass etc. What do I do? HELP----

Go to this site and type in your license plate #

Registration Verification

CT no longer sends back a reg or sticker when you renew. You would have kept the original renewal notice they sent.

If you are handy with tools and have a blow torch you can probably find an exhaust system at the junk yard.

They raised the "waiver" cost quite a bit recently. It had been $600. It's now $840. And you still won't be eligible for a waiver unless your income is below poverty. You're stuck.

Yeah that sucks but its gotta be done. Ask yourself how many more yrs does the car have. Or can you spend a little extra money and buy a $2000 used car instead of spending $1000 on that same car.

Just for those wondering... It's a good thing inpections arent given for this issue. Sucks for us if we're in OP's position but it protects us residents in the end.

A catalytic converter is a vehicle emissions control device which converts toxic byproducts of combustion in the exhaust of an internal combustion engine to less toxic substances by way of catalysed chemical reactions.

I have a 1998 jeep Wrangler. The jeep had a 6 cylinder and now has a 8 cylinder. How can I pass emissions in CT? The Jeep now has a Chevy 350 engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I currently brought the Jeep to a garage in Ct that builds Jeeps. They are installing the proper rear end and gears.
