Hi all, my wife and I along with our 5mo old are moving to the Greenwich area in the next two months. We are having a tough time trying to find a nanny because we don't know anyone around! Do any of you have any recommendations on how to find one other than care.com (which seem to only have high school or college students looking for work)?

Thanks so much!!

When you say you are looking for a nanny, I assume you mean someone to live with you which is the common definition. I know people that have used this agency in Stamford with good luck.

Au Pair in America

You could also try these which I found off the Yale University website:

Wee Care Nanny - The leader in household staffing

Tri-State Nannies (TSN) - Nanny, Childcare Referral Service

Hometown Nannies+ LLC Agency, a Domestic Placement Employment Agency serving Connecticut & New York. Special needs experts.

Maybe care.com, too? Their advertising is pretty compelling...

We used sittercity.com and were pleased with the results. Still takes a bit of work sifting through the applications and the interviews.

FWIW my experience with nannies in the area (live out nannies) is that you should just go to the playgrounds and start networking. Best if you not try to steal someone, but all the nannies seem to know each other, know who is about to need a new job, etc. I found mine by asking around my neighborhood. Good luck!

Have you ever had one before? there's a pil of stuff I wish Id thought of first...
