My daughter is having surgery this summer and I have to help her. I am moving up in the summer from Atlanta to somewhere in Connecticut. The latest I can move is on July 1st. My daughter lives in the Nowalk area. I am retired currently and my wife has a job. I want to spend between 650,000 to 750,000. I need 3-4 bedrooms for my grandkids to stay in. I need 3 bathrooms. It has to be near Norwalk. The furthest out I can go is about an hour.

Save yourself some money and look into the following towns: Danbury, Bethel, Shelton, Monroe, Newtown, Trumbull, Orange, Milford, Stratford. They will be well within an hour to Norwalk without rush hour traffic, and your money will go further.

To narrow down those towns, we would need to know more about what you like. Dense, spread out, wooded, coastal, suburban, rural, etc.

agreed - there are a lot of great areas within an hour of Norwalk, but some of them are extremely expensive. You'll need to narrow it down to what kind of house you want.

And, I hope everything turns out okay for your daughter.

I don't know if I would call anywhere an hour from Norwalk extremely expensive, unless you mean down in Westchester County.

I like dense areas. I currently live in Buckhead Georgia and it is pretty dense there.

Danbury and Bethel are sort of dense near the city centers, probably better off in Bethel's dense areas - Danbury's urban core can be a little run-down. The best part of Danbury is near the western edge and by the lake.

Would also look at Stratford and Milford. The coast below 95 is pretty dense, as well as the Paradise Green area of Stratford.

Thanks! I originally never planned on moving; I just wanted to fly up for 3-4 weeks. But all of my family lives throughout Connecticut and it is pretty lonely with no family.

The OP is "over"-budgeted for Paradise Green. I'm thinking the best "fit" in Stratford at their budget would be Lordship. In Milford, i would guess the Gulf Street area would fit. Perhaps the Great River area in Milford might work as well. It depends on what the OP considers "dense".

Having said the above, i think i'd have to suggest looking in Fairfield first. Although the OP doesn't need to pay the premium for a great school district(Fairfield), i still have a hunch that Fairfield might be what they're looking for.

Wait a minute. The OP doesn't need schools! There's nothing wrong with the Cranbury and Silvermine sections of Norwalk.

Another thing I forgot to add, I would like an area with people around my age; like 55+. Are there an good gated communities in the area that are 55+?
