Hi,
I'm looking for a private STU or 1BDRM apartment that's within a 30-40min commute to Westport, CT for about $1,000/month ALL IN (includes utilities - gas, electric, water, etc.). I commute on OFF hours (so, not during rush hour). I don't know CT well and am looking for a safe neighborhood that works. Any recommendations? Thanks ~S

Westport is an affluent and expensive suburb. It is unlikely you will find an apartment in town for that price. You will have to go either east to Fairfield or Bridgeport or north up to the Danbury or Bethel areas. Fairfield is a very nice town and is also kind of pricey. Not sure you will find anything there in your price range. In Bridgeport I would recommend Black Rock (west of Ellsworth Street), the North End (north of North Avenue and west of Main Street) or Downtown would be best. You could also look in the Beardsley Park area (north of Boston Avenue and west of Yellow Mill River). Another good option would be Stratford but you do need to be a little careful how close you get to the Bridgeport line there. Good luck, Jay

If you're commuting off-hours I would recommend Milford.

welcome to CT. It will be very difficult to find anything more than a spare room in a home in Westport for that price. I'd go with the suggestions of Jay and Bluderby above.

Stratford or Milford. Stratford is generally a bit more affordable.
