Airlines are cutting the bigger jets (Boeing 737s, etc) in Hartford (or technically, Windsor Locks) for smaller, regional jets and moving the bigger jets to larger airports, like NYC.
I am disappointed by the loss of the BDL - LAX service though. Even though the outbound flight was convenient, the return flight was a redeye, and was probably running less than capacity for that reason. BDL has a huge potential area to tap from--most of CT, western Mass, and southern VT. I really hope the privatization pays off. As I've remarked previously, Manchester and TF Green prominently advertise, but I have yet to see a Bradley billboard anywhere.
It the 8th least busiest aiports in the national lol even Rhode Island beat us I am not surprise no one really coming in to CT though
This isn't remotely true. BDL is the second busiest airport in New England after BOS.
The trend of mainline jets being replaced by smaller regional jets is world-wide trend in the airline industry that's been going on for more than 20 years. Routes are cancelled and added all the time. JetBlue just added DCA from BDL.
I know some people around here think it's their job to devalue Connecticut at every opportunity, but at least be factual...,

Flights out of BDL are usually 30% higher than New York or Boston and have less choices on times.. Also, most flights out of BDL require a connection which may require one of the DASH 300 propeller planes. I hate those little planes and will pay extra if I have to just to avoid them. United/Continental love to send you to EWR on their propeller planes. NO thanks.
I'd rather go to JFK and take a direct flight on Jetblue and hang out in their new terminal.

Other than a handful of flights to EWR, and Air Canada to Montreal/Toronto, everything else out of BDL is jet service.

Good luck budgeting 3 hrs to fight traffic each way

True-- but if you fly UAL you're likely to end up on one. USAir runs one or two a day to Philly. Of course, there are flights that run out of LGA, JFK and EWR on props....
Bradley airport is great. I will pay more for the convenience it offers. It always seems busy to me when I fly out of there.
Not sure why travelers have dropped. Possible that employers cut back on travel which may have hurt them and all other airports. It's all a cycle.
Bradley is a great airport and I will continue to use it for my travels.
