I am looking at apartments and trying to determine if the snow and road conditions would be different between Walnut Beach and Downtown Milford. I am moving in November and will commuting to Shelton for work. I didn't know if the beach area would be less plowed and, as a result, be more difficult driving. I drive a civic and plan to get to get snow tires.

Thanks!

Agreed, there will be no difference at all. Many people have front wheel drive vehicles and no snow tires. You will be in great shape w/your snow tires even if the roads are messy, so long as it isn't too deep since Civics have a low ground clearance.

Are you talking with plowing and all that? If there is a huge storm, downtown will be plowed before the roads by the beaches. I have friends that live by several different beaches in Milford and they are usually the last people plowed out.

Oh, but as for driving....you'll be fine. I have a Civic coupe and didn't put snow tires on last year and I survived getting to the family/friends I have up there. I'm putting on Pirelli's this year, but driving wise...you will be fine.

Downtown Milford might be a little better plowed than some of the lesser used side streets in Walnut Beach during BIG storms when they have to prioritize.

It's not something I would use as a criteria in looking for a place though...

Thank you all so much - that helps clear things up. From VA and when it snows, things generally just close down.

Oh yea...CT won't shut down from snow. Many businesses will stay open and the plows/towns know how to manage storms.

Unless it's almost 4' of snow, which definitely shut things down.
