Looking at real estate in Enfield area and am surprised to see some homes seem pretty decently cheap. I've always been told Enfield was a nice town. Is there something I should be aware of or should I think twice before investing in Enfield? I just don't want to buy a home, settle and in 10-20 years the town starts going down the drains. Any input would be great.
We purchased a home in Enfield with natural gas which is a plus.,T'ville and adjacent area best to avoid.Enfield for the most part is a blue collar town.
We are retired and purchased in area of similar to us residents, excellent, safe area.We are still in FL and are still deciding whether we can afford it.Cost of living constantly going up and with no exemptions for retiree, waitng to see how CL&P will affect us plus have added sewer tax.
You do have to be selective, night and day in some area's look it over carefully.
The only area in CT that's truly unaffordable for the average American is Fairfield County, where median home values are 150% higher than the national median. The rest of the state isn't cheap by any means, but it's at least within reach, where median home values are about 40% higher than the national median.
The days when one had to depend on real estate web photos are long gone. Mapping programs like Bing will give you street scenes, all four sides of the house, the neighborhood up close and the neighborhood zooming away to any number of greater & lesser degrees.
It doesn't replace actual seeing the home but it does help to eliminate a lot of unpalatable homes / neighborhoods.
