I wouldn't assume that, since the OP said within 20 minutes of Westport. Also, Bridgewater is significantly cheaper than Westport.

I meant Bridgewater the investment firm located in Westport, not the town.

What does Bridgewater, the investment firm, have to do with the person seeking recommendations in this thread?

The tipoff is in the title of the thread, a mix up of the names perhaps.

Your reasoning here is extremely confusing.

Cynthia - Keep in mind you are moving to one of the most expensive parts of the country. We will need to know your budget and what you expect for it to help you find the best place to live. Also note that most towns here have excellent public schools so unlike other parts of the country there is no need to send your children to private schools unless you want them to have a religious education.

All that said there are so many great towns to consider. Commuting to Westport can be difficult due to traffic so I would recommend living as close to Westport as you can afford. Westport is a wonderful town to start if you can afford it. Also the adjacent towns of Wilton, Weston and Fairfield are also great places to look. Again a budget would help us help you. Jay

Perhaps some are not comfortable providing personal information such as budget on a public forum. They are either looking at or being recruited by a very prestigious firm in town that seeks Ivy league credentials, they are probably intelligent enough to know it' s an expensive area.

I would suggest looking at Wilton and New Canaan. K-8 Catholic school in Wilton is Our Lady of Fatima, and in NC, St. Aloysius. Both look to be about 200 students. Both towns surely have gymnastics and taekwondo, though I am not familiar with either specifically. Wilton is a little closer to Westport but doesn't really have the charming downtown that you are looking for. New Canaan has a large, walkable and charming downtown. Very upscale. I think both would be about 20 minutes from Westport, although traffic can affect this, obviously.

I would mention that around here, a 20 minute commute would be luxurious, at least in my experience. Others might disagree though.

If you are willing to look a little further afield, you might check out Ridgefield. The Catholic school is St. Mary's, and from what I can tell, it's a little larger than the other two I mentioned (~270). Definitely has gymnastics and taekwondo. There is a charming, quaint downtown that is quintessentially New England. Many beautiful, old homes and less population density/larger lot sizes than the towns others have mentioned, which gives it a more easy-going feel, I think. We live on the southern end of town, and I tend to think of Westport as about 30 minutes away, although again, location and traffic will make a difference. Good luck with your search!
