Westport has a better offering of town amenities, free or not, theres more to do and see.
You sound like a non-native or someone new to the area.
Nobody is going to choose a town in this area over more things to do or see. It's not a vacation resort region.
What diff does it make who has better shopping or restaurants, anybody can go to any store or rest anytime they like.
I've used and been to every amenity you listed as a non-resident many times over (except for Arts Center but who cares, and Sailing schools are a dime a dozen in FFC)

Be my guest. I'll pass though, I like it here on the FFC coast much better.

Plenty of people live there and are fine living there.... then on the other hand, there's people like you who split hairs trying to claim Westport's schools are better than Darien's.

Both Westport and Darien are wonderful towns but each has a slightly different feel to them. Darien is slightly more reserved in character while Westport is more arts oriented. Darien is closer to New York and Stamford but Westport has some really good amenities like the Leavitt Pavillion and the town owned Longshore Club. Both offer top rated schools and a lot of great shopping and restaurants. It is up to the OP which suits them and their family better. Jay
