The town??? Fairfield has almost 60,000 people so I doubt it was everyone in town. The vigil was organized by a group from the family's church. Not the entire town. That same group has started fund raising for the family too. Nothing wrong with that. Jay
Not according to the 2012 census. It has 59,562 residents according to the Connecticut Economic Resource Center. Other census estimates I see are similar. None are over 60,000. Jay

The vigil was sponsored and encouraged by town officials, which they publicly admitted to. The first selectman released a statement, which stops short of apologizing - but comes close. So yeah, they should feel embarrassed.

Uh... yeah, it was hosted by the town... They posted fliers all around town and at the bottom it said "A vigil hosted by the Town of Fairfield and the Center for Family Justice". Nowhere does it say church.... so I'm with Kidyankee.... that's a really stupid thing to do.

They should have checked with the family first, I assumed they had. Not everybody wants to publicize their personal tragedies, or have them used to make a political statement.

Including the 6k or so students from SHU and FU? I'm sure there is some overlap but can't find more information.
Or the ridiculous town that organized a vigil for them.
I missed that. Please tell me it was before people knew what happened.
As for the woman in the car...is it that hard to go up to someone and see if everything is ok?
