My wife and I (mid-40's) are looking for places in Hartford county that have live music (rock/blues) and where the setup is such that people actually get out and dance (rather than just sit down and listen). I know that there are clubs in downtown Hartford with DJs and which play more hip hop and pop and cater to the young crowd, and we're not looking for that. Ideas/suggestions?

You'd like Black-Eyed Sally's, it fits your criteria perfectly: Live Music

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I'm familiar with that one, though I admit that I wasn't quite certain whether people danced there (I intended to call them and ask - I've been there to eat a couple of times and know that they have live music, but we've yet to actually make it out there at night).

I should have thought to list the few places I was already somewhat aware of, so here they are:
- Black Eyed Sally's in Hartford
- Hungry Tiger in Manchester
- Old Well Tavern in Simsbury (a little skeevy)
- Maple Tree Cafe in Simsbury
- Bridge Street Live in Collinsville (but there was no space for dancing the one time we went to see a live musician here)

Some other places that have live music but where I haven't been, so I don't know about dancing:
- The Half Door in Hartford
- Infinity Hall (one in Hartford, one in Norfolk)

Yes, there is dancing at Black Eyed Sally's. I've only been on weekend nights but there were people out on the floor every time.
