I had no idea the need for my services was so great, but I will be sure to visit Darien soon to teach residents the ins and outs of true food snobbery and see if we can't elevate their taste to a level befitting of their status.

I was actually surprised to learn we already have two Chipotles (and a Duchess curiously) in Darien. We also have the flip side with the Green and Tonic, etc. The Westport location is extremely popular and the Darien one will be even more accessible to people traveling on 95. Darien's Duchess is basically on the border with Norwalk. I do wonder if most of their patrons are truly from Darien.

At one point many moons ago Darien was known as the home of the world's busiest McDonald's. I am sure there is a busier one in Dubai, Mumbai or Shanghai nowadays.

Yep, back in the day you would see all the pink polo and docksider teens pulling up in BMWs and VWs blaring the Cure and Smiths.

Maybe the one on the 95 rest area, but I doubt many people from Darien visit that

Bingo. As is one of the Chipotles. Doesn't really count.

I once met the franchisers of all the McDonald's along I-95 (back when they had a virtual monopoly; recently the rest areas were reconstructed and the competition now has their space, although McDonald's is the only restaurant with the drive through privilege). Its a Mexican-American family. A true rags to riches via hard work story.

I don't think Darien ever had a McDonald's, at least on an actual town road.

Yes, it was one of the ones on I-95 (I believe the northbound one). There was a 60 Minutes story on the owner a few years back. The guy started out as a teen working at a McDonalds and worked his way up to Manager before buying a franchise. He then kept buying them and now is a multi-millionaire. The guy apparently remembers where he came from and is known to encourage his staff to work their way up. Great story. Jay

Of course there are. That Dutchess has been there for decades now. I love an occasional hot dog from them (usually go to Fairfield though). I am sure people in Darien do too, no matter how bad they are for you. Jay
