Florida Gov doing some business shopping this week in CT will other states follow ?

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -
The governor of Florida is coming to Connecticut next week to lure business back to his state.

Rick Scott announced on his website on Thursday that he would try to get business based in Connecticut to move their operations to his state of Florida.

“The business environment in Connecticut simply cannot compete with everything Florida has to offer. That is why I am leading an economic development mission to Connecticut to share this message firsthand with job creators and site selectors next week," Scott said.

Has Dannel Malloy learned NOTHING from two major corporations moving their HQ out of state per year? What an ignorant comment... he ignores EVERYTHING going on in this state.... (see below)

Eyewitness News has reached out to Gov. Malloy's office for a comment.

"It's no wonder that Governor Scott would look to Connecticut and be envious of what we have here. We foster a high quality of life, schools that are among the best in the nation, an incredibly skilled and knowledgeable workforce, and we're home to some of the best employers in the world," Kelly Donnelly, who is a spokesperson for Malloy, said in a statement on Thursday. "The truth is, no amount of money or effort will make up for the fact that Gov Scott is leading his state in the wrong direction. We are happy to host Mr Scott to show him a better way to serve his state, but if he's expecting anyone in Connecticut to buy what he's selling, he's better off saving his taxpayers the cost of the trip and staying home."

I can see it now...

"Come to Florida, guys. We tax you less with better infrastructure, more sunshine, amazing beaches; and lots and lots of palm trees. Our winters is your spring! You can use your pools, play golf, and drive your convertibles with the tops down yearround!"

Nothing dirty about it. States, like companies, must compete to earn the right to retain and lure corporations.

If they can be competitive, they are operating well. If not, they are inept.

We should welcome all challenges.

Unless Wall Street moves to somewhere in FL CT will always have a leg up.

It is not great that GE and Aetna have moved out of CT but please bear in mind the two states they moved to have higher taxes than CT. Did they move to FL?

I just want to give you my perspective as someone that was born and raised in Stamford and witnesses the buildup of the corporations in the 1970's. There have been corporations coming and going in and out of Stamford since the 1970's and Stamford keeps getting stronger ans stronger despite the bad economy in the state right now.

I do believe that the government will be "flipped" to favor the Republicans in 2018 and the economy will start to improve after that. Don't forget in CT we have a population that spends money on the school systems via higher property taxes. In FL you have people going there specifically NOT TO have high property taxes and spend less on education. Education is the base of a great society, not a population that could care less about other peoples children getting an education. If every state did that (have rock bottom property/school taxes) how would we have highly educated people in this country?

Hmmmmm, speaking of a state being led in the wrong direction. . .

Someone needs to explain to these idiots that this states sucks for business. I find it ironic that Ms. Donnelly is suggesting Scott stay home to save taxpayer dollars when THIS state's administration has done everything to squander ours. This state is like an aging classic rock band that's riding its coattail from a bygone era from when it USED to be great. But hey, don't take my word for it. Just ask Aetna or GE. And the sad thing is, even after Malloy is out, the new incoming legislatures will be saddling residents with yet more tax hikes, acting like it's all justifiable and we all should feel lucky to be here. Pathetic.

Rick Scott the con man? No, he wouldn't do such a thing! He is the king of Medicare fraud though.
