I am joining a job in stamford ct. I am looking for place to live. My elder son is going to 6th grade and little one is 4 years old , will be going to pre school. I am looking good schools . My budget is max 2000$.
Can you please suggest some places to live ? I searched a bit in internet for fairfield. fairfield has good middle schools it seems. Is there indian community in fairfield ?
Please advice for other locations as well.

With that budget, Fairfield would be a good choice. It has excellent schools and is a great family community, however it does not have what I would consider to be a large Indian community. There are Indian families there but they are spread out around the town. For a larger, more concentrated, Indian community you would likely have to look in Stamford but the schools there do not perform as well as Fairfield. It is up to you which is more important, good schools or a large Indian community. Jay

Using yelp to search for Indian Grocery stores is a good way to locate the Indian community. A grocery store won't survive without customers.

Here is one in Norwalk for example. If you are in town meeting with your future employer or house hunting, then stop in and ask the staff.

The problem is that Norwalk is not known for having good schools. Jay

Finding the Indian Grocery stores is a trick for finding the Indian Community, but doesn't help with schools. The OP can use something like greatschools to look for quality schools near the Indian Grocery stores. For the example I linked to the OP could check out the Darien School district about 2 miles away.

The bigger problem will be finding a 2+ bedroom rental for under $2000 a month with good schools and close to a large(r) Indian Community.

My suggestion will be further from Stamford but there are many people from this area that commute to Stamford. There is a Food Bazaar in the northern part of Bridgeport that has Indian food. I live in Trumbull and we have very good schools. You can also look in Shelton along Bridgeport Ave. where there are many apartments to rent. Shelton has good schools too. I notice quite a few Asian Indians in my town and Shelton on Bridgeport Ave. because I like the colorful fashions that the ladies wear. I am a woman so I notice that. You would be able to find a nicer apartment in the Trumbull/Shelton area. If your job is in downtown Stamford you could take the route 25/8 connector down to the Metro train station in Fairfield.

Cities with the Highest Percentage of Indians (Asian) in Connecticut

The cities of Stamford (#1), Norwalk (#7) and Danbury (#4) would have the highest population of Asian Indians but the schools are not as good the towns in Fairfield County.

The closest towns with better schools would be Bethel (#24) and Brookfield (#32) which are near Danbury. There are two Indian Grocery stores in Danbury. I am sure you could find apartments in your budget in Bethel and Brookfield. Bethel would be better IMO as it is closer to Stamford. If you took the train you would have to transfer in Norwalk. Then there is my town of Trumbull (#30) and Shelton (#40).

I am originally from Stamford. My husband and I made the commute from Trumbull to Stamford for many years before we found jobs in the Bridgeport area. I would say if your company is in downtown Stamford my area of Trumbull/Shelton would be good as you can take the train. I took the train on the days when I did not go in with my husband and it was quite nice. If your company in in the northern part of Stamford then Brookfield and Bethel might be good.

I would want to hear from fellow posters that live in Bethel/Brookfield to see what the commute is like to Stamford.

I lived in Bethel/Brookfield and commutes to Norwalk. It was doable. 45 minutes most days. Sometimes an hour+ in bad weather. I would NOT want to do Stamford.

To me, if there’s an option to train to Stamford, it’s crazy to do otherwise.

That is why I did not recommend Darien, New Canaan, Westport, Wilton, Weston or Greenwich. The OP will not find a 2 bedroom apartment in those towns within their budget. Like I said, they may have to choose between living in a large Indian community or a town with good schools. Jay

You could probably get a 2BR/3BR in Milford for that budget. And just commute by train. A decent amount of the Indian community in Milford commutes by train to Stamford.

I second Fairfield. My parents have quite a few Indian friends from there. Most are empty-nesters/older but there are quite a few younger families as well IIRC.

Trumbull is more affordable and has good schools + an established Indian community, however there don't seem to be many
rentals there.

As a note, once you get settled down you need not be confined to your town to meet other Indians by any means. Most (semi) regular gatherings I've been to have families from various towns across the state.
