No well and septic please!

I am a young senior looking for a condo or a ranch in Fairfield, Litchfield, or New Haven counties to be near family in Westchester.
All the ranch houses seem to have well and septic systems!! Well and septic were fine when I was in my 40's but now I don't want the additional maintenance issue.
My price range is low $300,000s.
I feel like I am looking for something that doesn't exist!! ( a unicorn?)
Please say it ain't so.
Thank you.

Oddly, we’re having a well/septic discussion in another thread right now.

Fortunately for you, any town with a home for sale in the 300 range (Stratford, maybe Devon, Detby, Ansonia, West Haven, East Haven) should have neither well or septic.

In Litchfield your options with public water/sewer will be limited to certain neighborhoods in New Milford, Watertown, Litchfield, Thomaston, Plymouth/Terryville, as well as most of Torrington. It’s pretty rare outside of those towns.

I believe that all of the condos in Watertown are on the town water/sewer lines.

The greater New Haven towns will have more options.

What about Danbury? It’s a nice small city with great shopping and entertainment and many nice suburban type neighborhoods on public water and sewer, plus it’s affordable and convenient to Westchester. Should be a lot of homes in your price range. JDHall1 is a regular poster here who is a real estate agent in Danbury. I bet he can help you find what you are looking for. Jay

Depends on how big of a home you want.

Danbury, as mentioned, is mostly sewer/public water but definitely there are some exceptions. I have friends in the woods on their own water/septic.

Stratford, Milford come to mind too. I believe West Haven and Derby are mostly town water/sewer and are very inexpensive. Taxes are high though.

Here you go. We are talking about this in another thread. My town of Trumbull has the sewers. All the ranches have sewers. I went up to $350,000.

This is for 55+ in Trumbull. They are ranch condos and they go fast when they come on the market. There are none for sale right now but wanted you to be aware of them. You would have to keep an eye out for this or tell a realtor you are interested in this.

I bet many ranches in Milford have sewers too. I looked at a few and they all have sewers.

I bet Stratford would have sewers and you would find houses in your range.

These are condos in Stratford that are 55+ an this one is a ranch. These condos are nice and in a good area.

East Haven, West Haven and Branford should be hooked up to sewers in your price range too. All three towns are in this link and it appears they are all hooked up to sewers.

I don’t think the style of home has any bearing on whether it has sewers or not. It more likely is more related to lot size. The smaller the lot, the more likely it is to have public sewers.

It’s interesting you posted a condo at Oronoque Village in Stratford. I have a friend that just moved there and absolutely loves it. Her condo has stunning views of the golf course it’s built around. It wasn’t that expensive but it did need work. The complex is getting up there in age. She didn’t mind because she gutted the place and now it’s really nice. I was impressed. Jay

I noted ranches because the OP said she wanted a ranch in her first post.

My aunt lived there and she loved it too. That is why I noted those condos too. You have to be aware that the Oronoque condos have a tax on top of the town tax. I think it's because they have their own fire department and maybe some thing else. I can't remember what my aunt said about that.

You can see it on this link.
Stratford - Oronoque Village Tax District 13.57 (that is on top of the regular town tax)

My husband and I would probably go there in retirement if not for the taxes.
