The warmer weather is almost arriving in Connecticut (supposedly) and one of the best ways to spend a hot summer day is to go to an amusement park. This leads to the following question:

What is Connecticut's best amusement park?

There are two that are amusement parks as technically defined, Quassy Amusement Park & Waterpark in Middlebury and Lake Compounce Theme Park in Bristol.

There are other amusement parks that are very near the borders of Connecticut and as a consequence get many Nutmeggers visits such as Six Flags New England in Springfields, MA ir Playland in Rye, NY. Those places are outside Connecticut, so the despite their proximity they will not be counted.

If you want, feel free to give your opinion of one or both parks. You can even break the reviews in parts: one regarding the infraestructoure, the mix of rides, the cleanliness, etc.

The following are two videos from The Theme Parks and Entertainment channel in Youtube. They feature walking tours with no commentary of each park.

For coasters, Lake Compounce no questions asked, but for general feel I prefer Quassy. It’s so laid back and quaint without feeling run down. Lake Compounce feels like a condensed version of Six Flags.

Lake Compounce, but I prefer Six Flags New England in MA overall!

I used to go to Lake Compounce a lot.
Used to be $30 to get in. Wonder what it is now.

Quassy is less seedy and more well kept, IMO. But LC is more fun for teenagers (and adults). Always liked Quassy, though.

I haven't been to Quassy and it's been ages since I've been to Lake Compounce. From what you are saying, it sounds like Quassy would be better with an almost 5 yo?

I feel the same way. LC is great, but I find Quassy not only better-kept, but it's also more subdued by comparison. At least I think so.

My vote goes to Quassy, but again, that's just me.

Always felt Quassy was more for little kids. It's cool and old school. Lake Compounce has better rides and is bigger. I used to love Boulder Dash.

That’s my opinion too. And I hate Six Flags. If you don’t like being wiped around like crazy, then you have little to do there. It’s also overrun by kids and not very well managed like all Six Flags parks. I’d much rather save my money for one trip to Disney World than go there multiple times. Jay
