Just wondering as our Jr. Senator, Joe Lieberman, really put himself out there with his support of the McCain campaign. Regardless of your political affiliation, how do you think his role will change in the Senate? I am guessing that with the Dems in charge, he will be punished in some way with less desirable committee assignments, etc. Overall, does it affect his ability to represent CT in the Senate?

First things first. Tomorrow, Senator Lieberman is meeting with Harry Reid to discuss Lieberman's place in Congress:

The Weekly Standard

His future will be determined as a result of this meeting.

This is what I dislike about the Democratic Party. They turn their back on Joe for a wealthy big shot in last years Senate election which was a giant slap in the face after the years of good service to the state and party and then they talk about punishing him when he wins and tries to reach across party lines for the good of the country rather than the good of the party. I have to tell you, It was really hard for me to vote for any Democrat after that.

They only saving grace he has is the Democrats need him. I believe this meeting will either make or break his relations with the Democrats. JMHO Jay

Default He is NOT representing the interests of CT anymore!!! He needs to retire.

Meredith on NBC's Today show just interviewed the Editor of Newsweek, who is reporting that they (Newsweek) had full access to all the campaigns as long as nothing was reported until after the election. He says that McCain went up against the RNC because he wanted Joe L. as his VP pick! When the RNC and the like told him in essence *no way ~ no how will we let you pick Joe L.* he retaliated with Mrs. Palin. It seems that this is likely why Joe was hanging around so much, he wanted a cushy job for himself in a McCain administration. Nice loyalty to the constituents of CT! We tell him thanks that's enough last time, and he goes rogue and runs anyway, then he's bucking for another job. He is NOT representing the interests of CT anymore!!! He needs to retire.

I've heard that Mc Cain wasn't able to have any of his first three picks (Lieberman, Pawlenty, or Ridge) because they didn't have socially conversative beliefs. I wasn't aware how/why Palin was chosen.

I am sorry but Joe Lieberman has consistantly served this state's interest VERY well. He has just not served the Democratic Party's interests well because he is willing to stretch across party lines to get things done. He is willing to disagree with things that they say and want because he believes it is in the best interest of the country as a whole. What is wrong with that? Too bad more of our politicians did not do this. As for a cushy job, who could blame him after the way the Democratic Party has treated him? I do not support many politicans but I do support Senator Lieberman, though I did not vote for the candidate he supported. Jay

Even though Congress' approval rating is in the teens, Lieberman is around 42 percent. He very well could rebound if he reminds his constituents of his prior fights and accomplishments.

For what it's worth, I believe Dodd is around 43 percent.
