I am paying my seller's agent 5%, which is split 50/50 with the buyer's agent, so that would be 2.5%.

In which town is the property? Please note: commissions are totally negotiable in the state of Connecticut and cannot be set by law. Also note: it used to be customary to split the commission equally between listing agent and buyer's agent. That's no longer true.

The following are now occuring...

1) equal split
2) split where listing agency gets slightly more
3) split where buyer's (or selling) agency gets slight more

There are pockets of the state where 6 percent (3%/3%) is common. But the majority of the state is 5 percent (2.5%/2.5).
