I'm thinking of moving to Stamford with a commute to my job in Wilton. Mapquest says the drive takes 25 minutes. Does anyone know if there is a lot of traffic going up I-95 and Route 7 in the mornings, and back at night? How much do you think traffic is going to add on to my commute?

Traffic backs up every morning going both directions on 95 between Norwalk and Stamford (of course, it's worse going toward NY). Many think that because they do a reverse commute it comes with no headaches, but this is far from the truth (on 95, at least).

You may not experience much trouble if you take back roads to North Stamford and hop on the Merritt to the 7 connector through Norwalk/New Canaan. I suggest you drive both routes when you have time during the morning and evening rush to see what it's like.

It really depends on the time of day and whether or not there is construction or an accident. 95 is always a gamble. Sometimes in the middle of the day it can be bumper to bumper for seemingly no good reason. Very frustrating. The Merrit might be better if you are nearer to Route 33 in Wilton and High Ridge or 106 in Stamford. Cutting across Stamford takes 20 minutes during busy times.

Hi, I am a realtor in Ridgefield and we have a lot of people who commute from here to Stamford everyday without ever going on 95 or the Merritt so depending on where you work you shouldnt have to worry too much about traffic
