We have an AT&T cordless phone, with a base & 3 phones. When a call comes in, we can hear the phone ring, see the Caller ID, but once the phone is picked up from the base, it cannot be answered & it is not connected. Tried 3 different phones - all same issue. All remote phones show the Caller ID as well, but cannot connect when picked up. Phone is connected to a Cable modem (Phone service via cablevision). All phones are fully charged.

Even more perplexing - if we push the speaker button on the Base station to try to answer, that is dead as well. Trying to connect.

Any ideas what could be wrong here?

If a simple wired phone works, then try resetting everything possible

a. Disconnect Battery from handset(s)
b. Disconnect Phone Cord from wall jack
c. Disconnect Phone cord from base unit
d. Disconnect AC adapter from wall outlet
e. Allow to sit for 30 min
f. Reconnect Phone Cord to base
g. Reconnect Phone cord to wall jack
h. Reconnect AC Adapter to wall outlet
i. Reconnect Battery to handset until you click or feel the plug snap into place
j. Re-Register Handset by placing on main base (Resetting security code - manually)

It doesn't sound like a hardware problem.

all that had been done already, except resetting security code- cannot see a way to do that.
But no wall jack - phone hooked into cable modem.

on an older phone set i used to have there was a way to change channels. don't see anything like that here.

Has this phone, or any of its predecessor ever worked?
Any recent cable service changes?

Phone base is dead. Go to ebay and see if someone is selling an inexpensive used one (or something similar that uses the same handset model numbers as yours) and buy it. This way you'll be able to re-program your handsets and thus have more stations.
