I'm going to be buying a used vehicle soon. I hadn't realized until I was driving around Cookeville today how many used car lots there are in town.

Does anyone happen to have any personal experience with any of the local used dealers (in the Cookeville or Crossville area)? And to clarify, I mean the variety of used dealership that would have sub-$5000 cars, not like a Cumberland Auto Group lot.

You might think about finding a good auto mechanic that will check out any used car before you buy.

The only car I bought local was a jeep on LSN which was a private sale. Worked out very well.

I ended up buying from Ford Lincoln of Cookeville. I checked it over before buying. I work on my own vehicles for all minor repairs and felt I could look over it fairly well. No mechanic is going to dismantle anything on a vehicle that belongs to a dealer.

I wasn't crazy about the Ford lot because of past experiences(nothing horrible-just pushy sales tactics), but we came out OK on this one.
