A German company is investing $64 million to build a 350,000 square foot manufacturing facility next to the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport between Cookeville and Sparta. Hörmann, LLC is a manufacturer of building entry systems. Hörmann’s products cover a wide range of doors for residential and commercial applications. Founded in 1935, Hörmann (pronounced "Herman") is family-operated and serves customers in more than 60 countries.
Construction on this facility in White County will begin in early 2018 and is scheduled to open in 2019. Hörmann and its 200 workers will produce residential and commercial sectional garage doors at the facility, serving customers across North America.

Apparently, Hörmann was interested in locating in Cookeville/Putnam County, but Cookeville's government and business leaders encouraged Hörmann to look at White County when they couldn't find what they needed in Putnam County. So at the official announcement the other day, there were representatives on hand from Cookeville and Putnam County in addition to the state and White County.
I think it's definitely a good thing that the community and business leaders from across the region work together. What's good for one county is good for the entire region.

Local and state leaders gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the 325,000 sq ft Hörmann plant yesterday.
“One of the early challenges was in finding a site that was large enough to accommodate our current and future plans, yet still be located in an area that already had substantial infrastructure; including easy access to major highways and a high-quality workforce,” [Hörmann LLC President Camron] Rudd explained.
