I don't know how I missed this. This was from December.

My mother cried the last time we were in Cookeville and went to Spring Street to buy some country ham and pimento cheese. Everyone was so friendly! She's almost ready to drive from Knoxville to Cookeville just to do her grocery shopping at Spring Street.

It is such a different vibe there. You really don't find it much of anywhere anymore. My husband goes more than I do and he loves it.

Yes there really is such a different vibe there. I read somewhere that it was the first self-service grocery store built between Nashville and Knoxville. I love the fact that you can still go downtown to do your grocery shopping and have your groceries taken to your car by a young man wearing a starched white shirt and tie. And I love the fact that in the day of Wal-Mart SuperCenters, Spring Street Supermarket is still jam packed, and the owner is there working as hard as his employees.

I use to go there a lot too,the atmosphere is nice ,but lately I noticed the quality is not like it was when I first moved here 2 Years ago,in the meat and vegetable department. So my once a week trip is now once a month and not for meat or vegetables.I hope the standard they use to have comes back.
