We plan to visit south padre island in the next few weeks. Can someone recommend good family activities besides playing on the beach and dolphin watch. We have two small children.

Thanks.

We just got back 2 weeks ago from South Padre (we rented a beach house). We found the Schlitterbahn to be a great family activity (even with small kids). Also, check out Pier 19 across the street (and down a block or so heading back towards "downtown"). At 8pm every evening, they have The Black Dragon pirate ship sail to the pier (that is part of the restaurant) and shoot its cannons at the pier. The pier responds by shooting its own small cannon. The kids loved it. That pirate ship also does tours if you would rather be on the ship instead of Pier 19 Restaurant. Enjoy your South Padre Island vacation!

Just a heads up that South Padre Island is down near Brownsville, not near Corpus.
If you're in fact headed to South Padre Island, there's a fun pirate ship cruise out of Port Isabel. The kids would love it! Also, Shlitterbahn, as someone else mentioned, is great. Also, don't miss visiting Sea Turtle Inc., former home of The Turtle Lady (as we called her when we were kids) and now a sea turtle hospital.
