The next one! I don't really have a favorite destination, prefer longer cruises. First cruise in 1982, Western Caribbean, 1983 Eastern Caribbean. The next year I took my first transatlantic because I thought there has got to be more to cruising than going to the Caribbean. I was young (mid-30s), enjoyed the beach time, the ship but not the 7 days.
In 1986, my 1st full transit of the Panama Canal, San Juan to LA, an engineering marvel. I went the opposite direction LA to San Juan in 1998 and was amazed how much it had changed, glad I saw it in 1986. Panama Canal cruise is great.
I enjoyed my Alaska cruise but haven't been back. I went on a repositioning from LA up to Alaska, smaller ship, first one of the season, only ship in town. It was very special, bands welcoming us at every port. When I see pictures of the ships lined up now, size of the ships, if I go back it will be a land trip.
I liked the Tahitian islands, not the long flight to get there, then sailed Tahiti to Hawaii. I've been to Hawaii many times and while a favorite of many, not so much mine.
Last year I took a transatlantic then a Baltic cruise, and would go again. Scandinavia, Russia were awesome and only a quick overview when you are on a cruise but well worth it. The transatlantic stopped in France, Belgium and Netherlands, too. Russia was interesting, St. Petersburg, so much history and very enjoyable. Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, nice and I could go all these places again.
As you see, hard to pick, I like it all! This year Spain, 3 ports beside Barcelona, Gibraltar, Canary Islands before heading to Ft. Lauderdale!
Barcelona is one of my favorite cities, so walkable, great experience. My favorite Canadian port is Quebec, I love the New England repositioning, Quebec to Ft. Lauderdale.
