Our prison system does not play fair. Too many are lost in the system, and way too many are treated less than equal. The only blessing to the story is he died a free man. Thank you for sharing this item.
So do I , maybe the prison system is not really fair, people who hasn't give benefit to the official will be treated less than equal. After his story was released, I think the American people will pay attention to this affair and ask government to improve the quality of the life in prison.

You do?! Not to sound like a troll here, but most Americans are so caught up in their personal problems these days with today's top story (debt crisis) a good example, that I highly doubt many people will sit up and take notice about the plight of the incarcerated.
Apparently, solitary confinement today isn't the same as it was years ago. Imprisoning someone in a cell, alone, and letting him out to shower and for an hour's daily exercise in the courtyard is hardly what most people think of when they think of solitary confinement, generally used as punishment (and something, BTW, that I think is inhumane).
I don't agree with your idea in some degree, the prison system must has a little unfair in every country. Perhaps the man doesn't get used to normal living or he enjoys being alone.
He didn't die from suddenly being out of solitary. He died from liver cancer. He had to be dying when he was released. Sounds to me as if the prison didn't want to pay for his funeral.
