In August 2013, the Stop-And-Frisk policy by NYPD - based on a very fast-and-loose concept of 'looks suspicious', and practically defining suspicion as 'not being white' - was ruled unconstitutonal by a federal judge. Stop-and-Frisk proponents insisted that rising crime would result.
So, how has 2014 played out? Well, lo and behold, crime is down in New York.
Murders? Down.
Rapes? Down.
Robberies? Down.
Burglaries? Down.
Assaults? Unchanged (actually, down very slightly, but not to a statistically significant degree)
That's right. Stop-and-Frisk proponents were wrong. Demonstrably wrong.
So now the Stop-and-Frisk proponents can either let us know that they're pleased (which those whose motivation was crime reduction will be) or if they're disappointed (which those whose motivation was simply dredging up an excuse for the disproportionate police harassment of minorities will be).
Who cares how 2014 played out?
It's 2015, and both shootings and murders are up in NYC.
I think YOU have some explaining to do. Crime went down with stop and frisk. Crime went down without stop and frisk.
There we have it! Never mind the hypocrisy but in these days of headlines your one simply statement can't be explained away.
Never mind that the OP ignores any other factors and attributes a reduced crime rate to no stop and frisk (about as valid as correlating lower crime rates to more tornados or less rain in California), the reality of what happens means nothing.
Just where is the proof that eliminating stop and frisk has anything to do with lowering the crime rate?
Not one shred of evidence.
Who knows, Pluto was declared not to be a planet, surely that had something to do with a lowering crime rate too.

With murders, muggings, shootings, and cops killing up, what do you have to say now?
Crime is not down, cops just aren't making as many arrests. Ever since their socialist mayor turned his back on them, they have made less arrests, which gives the illusion of less crime. Wait until summer kicks into high gear.
Stop and Frisk was a policy in New York for a period of time, where a office would stop you ask for identification, and then frisk you based solely on the fact that you looked like you might be doing something wrong, there was no proof of any wrong doing. It was stopped by the Supreme Court for two reasons, one it violated the 4th amendment for needing proof of a crime or witness to a crime. And 2nd over 80% of the people that were arrested as a result of Stop and Frisk were minorities; a clear case of racial profiling.
I am sorry this will annoy some people, but the police have no right to stop you for any reason unless you are breaking the law, period! I realize that some crimes may be prevented by this Stop and Frisk action, but if you really examine the Stop and Frisk policy, it is the same thing that you would see in Russia as “Papers Please”; I want the freedom, unless someone is breaking the law you have no right to stop them for any reason, I don’t care who they are.

I don't care if it did reduce crime, the fact is that it's against the principles on which the US was built.

Yes I know what stop and frisk is. A violation of my Rights.
What these posters said.
It's a search without any justification that's primarily based on what you look like. If the police did this with any kind of regularity to white people in middle class neighborhoods/suburban areas, you all would be howling about it. That it happens almost exclusively to people who are dark skinned and poor, it's okay. NOT at all!
Murders and shootings aren't "serious crimes?" The things you learn on these boards!
BTW, through May 30, for 2014 and 2015: --Shootings are UP 7.7% (from 403 to 434)
Murders are UP 15% (from 113 to 133)
Source: NYPD
All that matters.
Oh, and "shooting victims" are UP 9.1%
