Hi. I live in Denver and our local major newspaper is now about 10% important news and 90% ads, celebrity gossip and sports. Needless to say, it has -- like many newspapers -- gone seriously downhill.

I want to to subscribe (home delivery preferred) to a politically balanced newspaper that is not as leaden as the Wall Street Journal but is more substantial than USA Today; in short, one that has very good coverage of current events and politics, but also has features such as puzzles and advice columns. (In other words, what most major newspapers used to be like.)

I am considering the New York Times, but do any of you have any other suggestions? Thanks!

The NYT is pretty much agenda driven, just like the WSJ. But I think the WSJ has more journalistic integrity at this point. Ultimately, I think the Washington Post is the most neutral. But, even so, it's not very.
