Maybe you are comfortable watching people engage in PDAs. If so, good for you. But lots of other people are not comfortable with it, which is why PDAs are often seen as socially inappropriate. Can you not see that some people would be offended by being forced to watch this? Or are you (to use your own words) too "narrow-minded" to accept that others may hold views that are different from yours, but that doesn't make those views somehow invalid?
It's not even so much that we're (or I'm) not comfortable with it. It just tends to be more annoying than anything... I don't mind seeing a couple stand by the fountain downtown enjoying each others company, holding and kissing (as long as it's not some ridiculous passionate, body-groping performance.) I've done it myself after taking my wife for a night in the town. I just don't think that the back seat of a cab is the place for that. It's not a limo.

What do you mean by "somebody being forced to watch"? The only other person apart from the two girls in the cab was the driver and he should have had his eyes on the road.
I glad he got fined and was forced to pay compensation to the two women. His whole attitude was disrespectful. If he didn't like what they were doing, he should have said so in a non-agressive manner instead of turfing them out of the cab and calling them names.
I wonder how the judge would feel if couples sat in on his cases and started making out in the courtroom.
That's a different situation and incomparable with this particular case. These two women were being romantic towards each other exchanging a few kisses in a taxi. That's all.

We really don't know whether it was "a few kisses" or passionate make-out sessions.
Driving through New York on some rather strict time schedules can be stressful as is. To look into your rearview and have to see a couple's performances at every glance will indeed be distracting and annoying.
Think toddlers fighting or carrying on in the back seat of your car: Your eyes and attention should be focused on the road, right?

Bringing kids fighting in the back of a cab into the equation isn't really relevant here and would in that particular case warrant intervention. However, that's not the case here. The two girls are both in the movie business.
I would think it hardly likely that they would do more than just give each other a few kisses in the back of a cab.
As for the stress you mentioned, cabbies should be used to that. If they can't deal with it, better to go look for another job.
