This will be an epic fail with self-respecting females. Our fight for equality rages on, but this really isn't what we had in mind. The only wiener we want to see in a restaurant is the one on our plate. More power to the owners, but most of us will dine elsewhere.
This is bound to become a hangout for young, giggling, ogling gay males. Straight employees will eventually quit. Gays will replace them. Before long this Hooters will be equated with the gay bath houses. I don't think the owner has thought this through, but greed and profit tends to cloud the vision.
Speak for yourself, a hot naked guy would make my day.
Absolutetly nothing wrong with being equated with "gay" if it makes the owner tons of money. I am sure he/she won't mind one bit. The owner may have thought this through quite well. We're assuming that it would be for the gals, but I think smarter business people know better. As for waiters not expecting this....I am very certain the boys applying for the job know exactly what they are getting themselves into. Otherwise, they can always quit if they dont like it.
Exactly....I worked in the casino restaurant business, and can assure you there is no professional waiter in this country who hasn't worked with gays, they're the majority in most high-end restaurants, in urban areas anyway.
Straight men can benefit from hanging around gays, too, as women love them (out there gay guys tend to be great fun, many of us would love a gay best friend like Carrie had) and flock around them. They might even be able to make some side money if they're in an area with upper middle class "ladies who lunch" type crowd
They may not want to open in Mobile, Al or Wheeling, WV, but in NYC, San Fran, LA, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, etc...I predict high profits.
I have never been to a Hooters and I don't plan on going to this place either.
I'm sure they will do well for all the reasons that others have pointed out but I think it is pretty sad.
Here is a better idea, Instead of a woman in a tight shirt and shorts or a buff guy in a speedo serving food How about dropping the gimmicks and give the public great food, reasonably priced brought to me without an attitude.

Who says that both can't exist at the same time.
Clearly there's a demand for Hooter's type restaurants and there might very well be a demand for a restaurant like this. If its got a target market, which obviously isn't you, why would it matter.

Exactly. We have Olive Garden, Fridays, etc, etc, who don't have gimmicks, so go to them. Once in a while I like Rainforest even though that's a "gimmick" too. I don't care if the food's not always as good as my favorite diner, but it's fun sometimes to be called to the hostess stand because "My safari is ready". Likewise I think going to this place with the right girlfriends will be a hoot!
One thing about women going is that they typically value relationships and if they're in one - I could see some very angry/jealous boyfriends/husbands. I've heard many women are also "gossipy" so you may be able to count on her ogling getting back to the husband/boyfriend.

Isn't that what most restaurants already at least try to do?
