There are 146 moons in our solar system, and most of them have cool names. But Earth's moon is just "the moon" - it doesn't really have a name. This article suggests that we should give the moon a name. I like that idea. But what should we call it? Perhaps there should be an international contest, with a coalition of Astronomy organizations picking the winner (or, instead, should we do it by popular vote?). In any case, I'd like to hear some suggestions for a name other than "the moon".

Too boring. Maybe something a bit Monty-Python-esq like "Buttus Exhibitionus." (Just kidding...and rather obscure, I have admit.)

The name is The Moon and it is our moon! The only reason other moons have names is because they needed to be distinguished from The Moon.

"The Moon's" name is Luna, given to it by the ancient romans in honor of the goddess Luna.
