I think I've only eaten at a Jimmy John's twice, but I'll make a point to never set foot in one again. What an @ss!

This is becoming a common tactic used against low wage workers. Amazon does this with its temporary warehouse workers as well.

I don't know which is worse... what he does to his workers, or to the animals.

ha ha this guy looks like a big tool.

Jimmy John's is pretty meh..... same with all sandwich shops. 7 bucks for fast food sandwich I can make for less than a dollar has never been appealing to me.

Non-competes for a %$^&ing sub shop..... hah ah ha wow. I thought amazon was ridiculous.

The Leopard thing doesn't surprise me. If an American talks to the right people in African countries they could have one of those for $2-3000. When the average person makes USD $348/yr. 2,000 seems worth the remote risk of being caught.

Joe Arapio, controversial. A folk-hero to most Arizonians. My opinion of him is that he is ineffective and all about giving a good show to his supporters.

The non-compete is likely unenforceable and.. Frankly, if you're going from Jimmy John's to another sandwich shop, you probably need to re-evaluate your career and life.

The big cat hunting.. You know.. Whatever floats your boat. I'm not into it, but.. Some people are.

Sheriff Joe.. He's good and nuts.. meaning both. He's got some good ideas, but he's also just nuts. The whole baloney sandwiches thing.. Pink underwear.. Some of that's just silly and him getting in the news.

In an industry with low pay and high turnover rate for its unskilled workers, what would even be the purpose of that? It's not like they could tell competitors trade secrets.
Sandwich = bread with fillings in between. No big mysteries there.

"Most Arizonians" might disagree with that.

So they don't steal the recipe for the secret sauce?

The scope of the non-compete agreements are totally non-enforceable. A non-compete that is signed by an employee can only POSSIBLY be enforceable if it's for a reasonable geographical area from where they're currently working and it's duration must also be considered reasonable. Also, if customers come to them and aren't directly solicited by the employee in their new job, this doesn't break any non-compete agreement. It's enforceability also depends on whether the state the business is in happens to be a statute state or a case state. If it's a case state there has to be many cases that have set precedence and were awarded to the employer.

I really doubt (just my opinion) that a non-compete signed for a part time job with no benefits would hold water also. Non-competes are for employees of value that have direct inside knowledge that can do immediate and irreparable harm to their employer.

Where non-competes hold up all the time is when it's part of a buy-sell agreement for a business and rightly so.

I'm no lawyer, but I have been through a lawsuit with a former employer based on a non-compete.
