Brookfield Zoo officials said Tuesday they have fired an employee who was pictured in a social media post with a racially insulting comment about zoo customers.
"We do not tolerate this behavior," zoo spokeswoman Sondra Katzen said.
The posting showed what appeared to be a selfie of the worker in a Brookfield Zoo cap and shirt at a concession stand. The employee indicated she was at Brookfield Zoo.
A message with the photo read: "Wassup y'all? At work serving these rude ass white people"
People need to learn to keep their social media lives and work lives separate. In fact don't mention anything about work on your social pages and keep them private. Also to the O.P. while I haven't interacted with you enough to see how you generally post don't assume people don't make opinions based on the poster of the thread. Some people may see your name and already know what the race of the offender is.
This is newsworthy? Yesterday my daughter's Subway fired TWO employees for being lazy. Alert the press!
This is news worthy because there is a growing trend of employers firing people because of there activities on Facebook and employees not doing anything to protect themselves.

Like not wearing their uniform when they are going off on a hateful rant about their employer's customers?

Exactly, there was a starbucks employee who decided to upload a song about ungrateful customers a few years ago while wearing his apron. Take off your uniform and don't post things about work where your coworkers or customers/clients/patients may see them. I don't friend current coworkers for just this reason. It keeps drama down.

I can't believe people are still so clueless, but they are. I saw a compilation of people goofing off and talking trash about their jobs and bosses, only to forget that their bosses were Facebook friends and saw everything. "Sneaking out early, don't tell the d***head" ... Oops.
