According to a spokesperson from the Bay Area city of Salinas' Police Department, the victim was inside a Little Caesars pizza restaurant at 524 East Laurel Drive at 4:30 p.m. Sunday when a woman and her adult son entered the store.

The man, who apparently did not know either of them, told the woman that “she should not eat pizza because she was already overweight,” Salinas PD spokesperson Commander Sheldon Bryant says.

Reacting to the remark, the woman went to her car to retrieve a crowbar, presumably to assault the fat shamer.

Before she could strike a blow, however, her companion punched the man in the head "several times," Bryant says.

It is Salinas. Bad behavior on both parts. I could see popping him once but a multiple or crowbar wow.

He'll probably think twice next time before shooting off at the mouth like that, he messed with the wrong people. He's lucky they didn't beat his head in with the crowbar, some folks don't play around.

I duuno...this fat-shamer guy really bugs me. He's 50yrs old. But clearly has zero tact.

He's at a age where his body is changing and he may very well pile on some extra pounds too.

And where does he get off saying that to a perfect stranger simply enjoying her meal at a restaurant.

Maybe he was doing her a favor. After all, if she really was huge, even if she came at him with a crowbar, he could bob and weave and avoid her all day long until she tired out. And she'd have worked herself into a sweat that burned several hundred calories, which would've balanced out the pizza
