We’ve seen driving while black and even walking while black, but cooking out while black is a new addition to the list.
Video shows a man who identifies himself as a neighborhood council official advising a Florida resident that his BBQ smoke isn’t allowed to leave the property.
Yet when I lived in Florida the neighbors 5 houses down constantly blasted their bass heavy music so loud that it permeated inside other peoples' homes. The cops were called multiple times by at least 3 different households, yet nothing seemed to get done about it. Go figure.
You're not quite there. Invite the neighbors that are complaining also. Being nice to them messes with their minds and will probably take care of the complaints.
That is what my neighbor does when he has a big party. He invites all the neighbors around. "The neighbors won't be complaining about the noise from the party when they too are AT the party".
There might be a little more to the story than appears at first blush. legalsea posted a link to one of the 15 complaints against the homeowner which implies there might be an illegal bar-b-q business and this might be a large commercial smoker which is pretty popular in FL.
Is it the smell of the smoke, or just cooking smells they don't like. Some people need to just get a life.
When I cook sauerbraten and red cabbage, or fry fish, inside my home, you can smell that outside also. That smell gets through the doors and windows. Should I go around asking my neighbors if they approve of my menus?
While it does not apply to Florida, what about people who have a fireplace on in the Winters? Are neighbors going to object to smell of wood burning fireplaces too?
Personally, I like the smell of both grilling and fireplaces. Invite me over for what you are cooking. Invite me over to sit in front of your fireplace with a nice cup of hot chocolate.
That's a good question....what's next: emission controls on Bar-B-Q's???
