I think we need to get some perspective here. Animals don't have feelings, they are just there. It was probably going to die soon. This guy paid good money for it so he has every right to take it home and get it stuffed. The money he paid can be put back into the local economy to breed more animals and preserve the habitat. Some people are so ungrateful.
Please tell me you do not have pets or deal with any animals in your life. Your attitude is frightening.
Dr. Palmer did not donate the meat, hide or head. The head has been located in a taxidermy shop, as he had every intention of having it stuffed and mailed back to the US so he could display it in his home. The skinned body was left to rot.
According to National Geographic, some 200,000 lions roamed across Africa a century ago. Today, there are less than 30,000.
And that decline appears to be accelerating. Looking at population data from 1993 to 2014 — about three lion generations — the International Union for Conservation of Nature found a staggering 42 percent drop in the population. That figure varies drastically depending on where the big cats live. Due to conservation efforts and good fences in Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe — where Cecil was killed — lion populations have increased by a little over 10 percent.
But outside those four countries, the situation is much more dire — an average of 60 percent population loss.
At one time, lions roamed vast swaths of land across Africa and Asia. Now, they are regionally extinct in 26 countries and possibly extinct in seven more according to the IUCN. Humans are essentially the lion’s only predator and are to blame for their endangered status.
“Among the causes, the most important are indiscriminate killing in defense of life and livestock, habitat loss, prey base depletion, bushmeat trade, and poorly regulated sport hunting,” wrote the IUCN’s lion assessors.
If current trends continue, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service director Dan Ashe warned that lions could dissappear from the earth in 35 years.
It's disgusting that they just left the carcass to rot, but the rest of my point still stands. I don't think we should extradite our citizens to third world dictatorships. The leader of that country has done far worse to his citzens than this guy did to a lion.
Has anybody taken into account the possibility that the lion which will take Cecil's place and start hooking up with all those hot lionesses might have set up Cecil and this dentist?
Some people care more about animals, nature and endangered species than others. There are people who spend all their time worrying about protecting gun ownership, though many believe those people are severely paranoid, and that there are much more important issues. Others worry about protecting animals, wildlife and the planet.
Rather arrogant and judgmental to opine regarding whose outrage is more valid or telling people what they should and should not be outraged about. It's a subjective value judgment.
I came to a decision yesterday. The news seems to have a very liberal agenda. They can blow it out their ears. I plan to switch channels every time anyone starts telling me about any officers shooting anyone, liberal political crap, climate change, etc. As far as I am concerned if they are into the liberal agenda they will be talking to themselves because I am tired of hearing it.
First, there is no such thing as "legal late-term" abortion. No abortion can be performed, with some exceptions like the health of the mother, after 24 weeks (20 in some places, awaiting a SCOTUS challenge). Nothing after the second trimester.
Do you even know that countless abortion providers have been stalked, intimidated, physically threatened and even killed for helping women exercise their constitutional rights? And you must have heard about abortion clinic bombings, never mind terrorization and shaming of patients by pro-life activists who are going to hell anyway.
So, I don't think you can fairly compare what's happening with this dentist with abortion providers. Please.

Interesting how so many of the pro-life crowd limit their pro-life attitude to fetuses and exclude animals, people on death row, illegal immigrants, minorities killed by law enforcement, abortion doctors, people who are killed when the pro-lifer's favorite party invades other countries to avail itself of their resources. Talk about hypocrisy!
