Why shouldn't the 18 year old have had access to a gun? Was he mentally ill or have a record that precluded him from buying one?
Stupidity doesn't count.
I'd say they should ban alcohol as that results in far more violent acts and death than guns do.

Why are the mods not changing the title of this thread?

This is not like the Roseburg school shooting, this is a bunch of dumb asses on a college and had an altercation...

Guess I'll just start posting all the daily chicago killings and label them anyway I feel fit to push that particular narrative, what ever it maybe....

All this happens because people don't value human life any more thanks to

an overly-objective and passive/dismissive media

showing beheadings, routine loss-of-life incidents without consequence or justice, changing attitudes towards abortions,

over-population
people are seen as obstacles,

and mindless entertainment
truly truly mindless to the point of destroying brain cells
that encourages violence
think cartoons "for young adults", rated R or edging past PG-13 motion pictures based on comics, video games where the objective is to kill unresponding/defenseless NPC characters like a coward

Criminals look at human life with a clinical bird's eye view
Like a drone popping off a missile blowing up a group of people in the middle east
De-sensitized, who cares, self-entitlement attitudes "where is my trophy for existing?" <-- not special enough, nothing to do, idleness in their room fondling a pistol or rifle, bitter towards society "what's the point of all this"

reading yahoo news / facebook
having a low opinion of humanity based on their experiences and human interactions on the internet
combined with whatever past experiences or imagined injustices towards them

thinking people are dumb and can only think in 140-characer strings before their brains shut off
and post narcissistic selfies before unknowingly becoming the victims of the next mass shooting

all this combined with boredom
The state doesn't allow you to start a non-underground business without severely taxing you
The only way to be busy is to face subjugation as an employee somewhere
Nobody wants this, look at the unemployment rate

Unemployed people with nothing to do
But they have a firearm they just cleaned and oiled and some shells sitting around unused

Yup. And yet another reason to be sure we're armed and can protect ourselves.

Leave it to the gun control freaks to try and make this sound like a typical gun shooting. Whatever fits your agenda i guess.

Even if not all of these groups want to "take away" guns, they all do want to significantly curtail their availability to the general, law-abiding public. This article appeared in 2004, so some of these organizations may have changed since then. But their goals remain the same.
In the link you posted the goals were to tighten up laws. Nowhere did I see the goal "to take away guns".

Fight among students led to shooting at Northern Arizona University that left 1 dead, 3 wounded

Posted 6:21 AM, October 9, 2015, by Christopher Brito and CNN, Updated at 11:31am, October 9, 2015

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — A shooting at Northern Arizona University Friday morning that killed one and hurt three others was sparked by a fight between two groups of students, Gregory T. Fowler, the school's police chief, said.
An 18-year-old freshman identified as Steven Jones was in custody in connection with the deadly shooting, Fowler said, adding that Jones is cooperating with investigators.
Gunfire broke out in the middle of the night in a parking lot next to the Mountain View residence hall, officials said.

A fight leads to murder.

Seems to me hotheads should not own weapons.

My condolences to the family who's loved one was killed.

Control.

The right to own a gun denies them that.

I bet this guy(s) acquired his gun legally. They have a right to have them as per 2nd Amendment. What is really down right nutty are the governors and state legislatures that have pursued the arming of students on college campuses with the the intent on stopping a potential killer. There are many scenarios where the so-called normal student can be the killer the next minute.
